Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (such as erosive reflux esophagitis), eradication of Helicobacter pylori, prevention of recurrence of peptic ulcers, relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and prevention of gastric ulcers.
This medication is effective for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly erosive reflux esophagitis, and for preventing recurrence. It is also used as part of a combination therapy with antibiotics to eradicate Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with duodenal ulcers or peptic ulcers. Additionally, it helps to treat and prevent gastrointestinal symptoms or gastric ulcers related to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers.
This medication must be swallowed with liquid such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Maintenance therapy for preventing esophagitis recurrence: 20 mg once daily. - Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - If necessary, 20 mg once daily.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms without esophagitis:
This medication should not be used in patients with certain allergic reactions or hypersensitivity. Caution is required since drug interactions can occur when taken with certain antibiotics or antiviral medications. It is safe to avoid this medication in breastfeeding women or patients with a history of myocardial infarction. Patients allergic to the colorant Yellow No. 5 should use this medication with caution. Various adverse reactions such as headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and skin rash may occur; if symptoms are severe or persistent, consult a healthcare professional. Regular testing, including blood tests, is important to check for abnormalities during long-term use. This medication can reduce gastric acid secretion, potentially increasing the growth of bacteria in the stomach, thus slightly increasing the risk of infections such as diarrhea. Long-term or high-dose use may increase the risk of fractures, and caution should be exercised in patients with osteoporosis. Magnesium levels may decrease, so regular blood tests should be performed during long-term use or when combined with medications that lower magnesium levels. Due to numerous drug interactions, inform your doctor or pharmacist of any currently taken medications, especially with anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, or antidepressants. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established, so use it cautiously upon medical advice. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and treatment should be based on symptoms under healthcare professionals' direction. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer the medication to other containers.
Urticaria, severe swelling (including angioedema), anaphylactic reaction/shock, fever (related to hypersensitivity), jaundice, hepatitis, hepatic failure, encephalopathy, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), severe rash, blistering, skin peeling (serious skin adverse reactions), severe allergic reactions.
Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, drowsiness, taste disorder, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, pancreatitis, increased liver enzymes, hepatitis, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, joint pain, muscle pain, muscle weakness, interstitial nephritis, gynecomastia, asthenia, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, allergic reactions, back pain.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect from air and moisture exposure. The recommended storage temperature is between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
