How to take

This medication should be taken once daily, preferably in the evening for asthma patients, while for allergic rhinitis patients, the timing should be adjusted according to the patient's condition. For patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis, take 1 tablet once daily in the evening. This medication should be taken 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.

Child dose

Children aged 2 to 5 years: Chew and take 4 mg once daily as montelukast. This drug should be taken 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which requires the metabolism of phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria should not take this medication. This medication contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. When used in patients with asthma or allergic rhinitis, various adverse reactions, including fatigue, headache, abdominal pain, fever, cough, and rash, may occur. In rare cases, serious symptoms such as vasculitis or eosinophilia may develop, so caution is necessary. This medication is not for treating acute asthma attacks; separate emergency medications should be used during acute symptoms. Also, patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not take these medications concurrently while using this drug. Pregnant women and nursing mothers should exercise caution when taking this medication and should only take it when necessary. Children and elderly patients should also consider safety during use, especially since safety and efficacy have not been established for infants less than 6 months old. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so management should be done through general treatment and monitoring, and it is important to strictly adhere to the recommended dosage. This medication is sensitive to light, so it should not be opened until just before use, and it should be taken immediately after preparation. Lastly, it is important to consult a physician immediately if any neuropsychiatric symptoms or adverse reactions occur during the use of this medication.
