Cefalosime 250mg (Cefuroxime Axetil)

Adult dose

For optimal absorption, take after meals. 1. Adults and children 12 years of age and older 1) Most infections Administer 250 mg per dose twice daily. 2) Severe lower respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, severe infections, or suspected infections caused by less susceptible organisms Administer 500 mg per dose twice daily. 3) Urinary tract infections Administer 250 mg per dose twice daily. 4) Uncomplicated gonorrhea Administer 1 g as a single dose. 5) Lyme disease Administer 500 mg per dose twice daily for 14 days (10~21 days). For the treatment of infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A beta-hemolytic), this drug should be administered for 7~10 days. 3. Patients with renal impairment Cefuroxime is primarily eliminated by the kidneys. To compensate for delayed elimination in patients with significant renal impairment, reducing the cefuroxime dose as shown below is recommended. Child dose

1. Adults and children 12 years of age and older 2. Infants and children under 12 years of age 1) Most infections Administer 125mg per dose twice daily. However, for otitis media in children 2 years of age and older and for severe infections, administer 250mg per dose twice daily. 2) Lyme disease Administer 250mg per dose twice daily for 14 days (10~21 days). There is insufficient experience with use in infants under 3 months of age. This drug must not be divided and is therefore not suitable for treating patients, such as young infants and children, who cannot swallow tablets.

This drug should not be used in patients with an allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics. Precautions should be taken in patients with a history of allergy to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics, patients with allergic constitutions, patients with severe renal impairment, and patients who have difficulty swallowing or elderly patients. Various side effects can occur when using this drug, ranging from mild symptoms to severe allergic reactions, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to medical personnel immediately. In particular, if symptoms such as skin rashes, hives, itching, fever, or difficulty breathing occur, the administration should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. This drug may have common side effects such as headaches, dizziness, and gastrointestinal disturbances, and mental adverse effects may occur in elderly or severely infected patients. Moreover, serious skin diseases or hepatitis, renal impairment, and other rare conditions may occur, necessitating regular monitoring. Prolonged use may lead to excessive growth of fungi such as Candida or pseudomembranous colitis, so caution is necessary. Care must be taken when driving or operating machinery due to the risk of accidents caused by dizziness. This drug can interact with other medications, so it should be discussed with healthcare professionals when taken with diuretics, aminoglycoside antibiotics, probenecid, antacids, etc. The use of this drug during pregnancy or lactation should be approached with caution and administered based on a doctor's judgment if necessary. Safety has not been established in pediatric patients, especially infants under 3 months, and appropriate formulations should be selected when administering to children as they may have difficulty due to taste. In elderly patients, the risk of side effects may be higher due to decreased physical function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted, and their condition should be closely monitored. This drug may affect the results of certain clinical tests, so inform the healthcare personnel about the usage of this drug before tests. In cases of overdose, serious side effects such as seizures may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. This drug should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original container to prevent degradation of quality or misuse.
