Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of its components, or a history thereof. Patients with end-stage renal disease or those undergoing hemodialysis should not take this medication. It should not be administered to infants under 1 year of age, and a liquid formulation is safer for children under 6 years of age than tablets. The tablets contain lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, as well as the elderly, may need to exercise caution as they could experience increased blood concentration of this medication. This medication may cause side effects such as drowsiness, headache, and dizziness, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Gastrointestinal side effects such as dyspepsia, nausea, and diarrhea may occur, so monitoring is necessary. Rarely, cardiovascular issues such as irregular heartbeat or increased blood pressure can also arise. Any signs of hematologic abnormality, allergic reactions, skin rashes, or itching warrant immediate consultation with medical personnel. It is advisable to avoid the use of alcohol or central nervous system depressants while taking this medication as they may exacerbate drowsiness and concentration issues. For patients with urinary retention problems or epilepsy, caution is needed as this medication may worsen their condition. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult with a physician as this medication may affect the fetus or newborn. Due to a lack of experience, this medication should not be administered to children, especially those under 1 year of age. Elderly patients may experience prolonged presence of the medication in the body due to reduced kidney function, so it is recommended to start with a low dosage and carefully monitor their condition. It is advisable to discontinue this medication before undergoing allergy skin testing. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness or agitation may appear, and since there is no specific antidote, symptomatic treatment should be sought. This medication is not removed by hemodialysis, so caution is necessary in cases of overdose.
