How to take

Adult dose

Adults 18 years and older should consume 1L of the prepared solution (500ml * 2 preparations) for 1 hour the evening before their colonoscopy and the morning of the examination, divided into 250mL doses every 15 minutes, and should drink additional water. 1) Divided dosing method: Take 1L in the evening before, then add 500ml of water, take another 1L in the morning, then add 500ml of water, and complete at least 1 hour prior to the examination. 2)

Precautions

This medication may rarely cause generalized tonic-clonic seizures even in patients without a history of seizures, so caution is advised. Particularly, it is often associated with electrolyte abnormalities, such as hyponatremia or hypokalemia, and should be used with caution when used in conjunction with drugs that can induce electrolyte imbalances. This drug should not be administered to patients with intestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal blockage, perforation, toxic colitis, or toxic megacolon, and should be used cautiously in patients with severe ulcerative colitis. Additionally, the artificial sweetener aspartame included in this medication is broken down into phenylalanine, thus it should not be administered to patients with phenylketonuria. This drug should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity, suspected gastrointestinal obstruction or perforation, patients with dehydration, severe heart failure, active cancer, or gastric paralysis. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established, and therefore administration is not recommended. Elderly or frail patients, or those with reduced kidney function should be particularly cautious when taking this medication, and if symptoms like abdominal distention, abdominal pain, or vomiting occur, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. This drug can cause various adverse reactions, including metabolic abnormalities such as hunger, hypophosphatemia, and hypokalemia, neurological symptoms such as sleep disturbances, dizziness, and headaches, gastrointestinal symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal distention, anal discomfort, dyspepsia, dysphagia, lethargy, thirst, tremors, malaise, decreased bicarbonate in blood, decreased calcium in blood, hypercalcemia, decreased or increased chloride in blood, and increased phosphate in blood. Severe adverse effects such as allergic reactions, gastrointestinal mucosal damage causing upper gastrointestinal bleeding, esophageal perforation, acute pulmonary edema, tachycardia, palpitations, hypertension, arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, peripheral edema, cardiac arrest, fainting, dehydration, anaphylaxis, rashes, hives, lip swelling, tongue swelling, facial swelling, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, respiratory distress, throat tightness, tremors, seizures, and kidney issues may also occur. Patients should closely monitor their bowel state before and during administration of this drug, and if severe abdominal distention or pain occurs, it may be necessary to adjust the rate of administration or discontinue use. If symptoms of fluid or electrolyte abnormality occur, blood tests should be conducted to check the condition and appropriate treatment should be obtained. This drug may interfere with the absorption of orally taken medications if taken within 1 hour before administration, so caution is needed and concomitant use with irritant laxatives should be avoided due to an increased risk of mucosal ulcers or ischemic colitis. Safety in pregnant or breastfeeding women has not been established, and should only be administered when the diagnostic benefit outweighs the risks. The effects of this medication on driving or operating machinery are unknown, so caution is needed. In case of overdose, dehydration, decreased blood volume, or severe electrolyte abnormalities may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored and appropriate treatment should be received. No other ingredients or flavors should be added to the solution prior to administration, and any remaining solution should be discarded within 24 hours after preparation.
