This medication helps prevent and manage asthma. It is also used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis that may occur seasonally or throughout the year. Therefore, it is effective in improving symptoms for patients with asthma and allergic rhinitis.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily; for asthma patients, it should be taken in the evening, and for allergic rhinitis patients, the timing should be determined based on the patient's condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 4 mg once daily in the evening, which is one tablet, one pack, or one sheet. This medication should be administered one hour before meals or two hours after meals.

Child dose

Children aged 2 to 5 years: Chew 4 mg once daily. This medication should be administered one hour before meals or two hours after meals.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and patients with a genetic disorder known as phenylketonuria should not take this medication. Patients with phenylketonuria cannot properly metabolize phenylalanine in the body and must restrict their intake of phenylalanine found in this medication. This medication contains lactose; therefore, patients with lactose intolerance, galactose intolerance, or congenital glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. This medication is not to be used during acute asthma attacks, and appropriate emergency medications should be carried in case of sudden deterioration of asthma. While taking this medication, inhaled corticosteroids can be gradually reduced under a doctor's direction, but one should not suddenly switch to other steroid medications. Aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not be used during treatment with this medication, especially in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to aspirin. In rare cases, asthma patients may experience an increase in eosinophils in the blood, which could be accompanied by vasculitis or worsening lung symptoms, necessitating careful monitoring by a physician. During treatment with this medication, various adverse effects such as headaches, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, rashes, etc., may occur; if symptoms are severe or persistent, consult a physician immediately. Children and the elderly may also take this medication, but doses and administration methods should be observed carefully for children according to their age. Safety and efficacy have not been established for infants under 6 months of age. This medication is light-sensitive; therefore, it should be taken immediately after opening. Store in a place out of the reach of children. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so general supportive treatment and clinical monitoring are necessary, and care should be taken to avoid overdose. During treatment, do not arbitrarily reduce or discontinue the dose of other asthma medications, and inform the physician immediately if symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear.
