View approved original text

This medication is used to control essential hypertension and is effective for treating heart failure patients (NYHA class II to IV) who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors. Therefore, it is useful for managing hypertension and heart failure, as well as preventing complications after myocardial infarction.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, if pregnancy is confirmed, discontinuation should occur immediately. Patients with allergies to this drug, severely impaired liver or kidney function, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Elderly patients, those with mild liver impairment, or patients with excessively low blood pressure or heart disease should be particularly cautious when taking this medication and should start at a low dosage while monitoring their condition closely. Although this drug has blood pressure-lowering effects, it may sometimes cause side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, headache, cough, dyspepsia, and rarely, abnormalities in blood, liver, or kidney function may occur. Because there is a risk of sudden severe drops in blood pressure leading to fainting, close observation of the condition is required when starting the medication or increasing the dosage. Taking this medication with other antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, or potassium supplements may intensify side effects, so consulting a physician or pharmacist is essential. This medication may pose risks to the fetus during pregnancy, therefore it should not be taken if pregnancy is planned or if already pregnant, and it is also advisable to avoid in breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy in children and teenagers have not been established, so its use is not recommended in this population. In case of an overdose, there is a risk of hypotension, decreased consciousness, and shock, so immediate medical attention is required for proper treatment. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
