This medicine helps lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol while increasing good HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. This treatment should be used in conjunction with an appropriate dietary regimen that includes saturated fat and cholesterol restrictions, and is administered as an adjunct when dietary management alone is insufficient. Additionally, this medication is used as a lipid-lowering therapy to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease caused by hypercholesterolemia. It is important to identify other causes of dyslipidemia before treatment and to provide concomitant treatment as necessary. This medication contributes to improving cardiovascular health by regulating the patient’s blood lipid levels.
