Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or any of its components. Additionally, this drug contains lactose; therefore, patients with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption should not use it due to genetic conditions. Patients with liver disease or a history of liver disease should be cautious when using this drug as liver function may worsen. If an allergy reaction occurs during treatment, such as rash, urticaria, swelling of the face or extremities, and itching, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, dizziness, insomnia, and nightmares may occasionally occur, so caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, thirst, diarrhea, and constipation may also occur, so consult a doctor if discomfort is severe. Liver function may be affected, so if liver enzyme levels rise or jaundice symptoms appear, immediately discontinue use and consult healthcare professionals. Renal function may also be affected in rare cases, so if symptoms such as proteinuria appear, testing may be necessary. Urological symptoms such as frequent urination, hematuria, and urinary retention should be carefully monitored if they occur. Palpitations may occur, so inform a doctor of any cardiac-related symptoms. Respiratory symptoms such as difficulty breathing or nasal congestion may rarely occur, hence caution is needed. Hematological abnormalities such as thrombocytopenia or leukocytosis may require regular testing. In women, rare effects such as gynecomastia, menstrual irregularities, and breast pain may occur, so consult a doctor if these symptoms arise. Patients with asthma should understand that this medication does not provide rapid relief of symptoms like bronchodilators or steroids used for asthma treatment. For patients undergoing long-term steroid therapy, dosage reduction should be done gradually under medical supervision when this drug is used. This medication may cause drowsiness; therefore, caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. If no effect is observed, avoid long-term use. Seasonal allergy patients are advised to start taking this medication before symptoms appear and continue until symptoms resolve. This medication does not seem to enhance the sedative effects when taken with other sleep aids, antihistamines, or alcohol, but caution is warranted due to insufficient experience with combinations. This medication is mainly excreted in its non-metabolized form, thus the potential for drug interactions is low. Safety has not been established during pregnancy, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking it. Lactating women should avoid use or discontinue breastfeeding while taking this medication, as it can be transmitted through breast milk. Safety for children, particularly low-weight infants and newborns, is not sufficiently verified, thus caution is needed when using it. The elderly are likely to have reduced liver and kidney function, so careful monitoring for adverse reactions is necessary, with dosage adjustments or temporary discontinuation as needed. Overdose may lead to cardiac anomalies such as arrhythmias; therefore, if an overdose is suspected, seek immediate medical attention for ECG testing. Emergency care such as gastric lavage or forced diuresis may be necessary in case of overdose. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers to prevent accidents or degradation in quality. Taking this drug on an empty stomach may increase blood concentration, so it is recommended to take it before bed or after meals according to specific symptoms.
