This medicine is used in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia, in combination with dietary modifications, to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, ApoB protein, and triglycerides, and to raise HDL cholesterol. It can particularly be administered to patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia either in conjunction with other lipid-lowering treatments or as an alternative. After appropriate risk factor assessment, this medicine may also be used for patients at high risk of atherogenic vascular diseases due to hypercholesterolemia. Furthermore, lipid-regulating agents should be used when there is a sufficient response to an intensified dietary regimen and non-pharmacological treatments. Before taking this medicine, the causes of secondary dyslipidemia must be identified. This medicine helps to improve cholesterol and lipid levels, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
