This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive reflux esophagitis, and is also used for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. Additionally, it is used in combination with antibiotics to prevent recurrence in patients with duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection. It briefly alleviates upper gastrointestinal symptoms caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and also helps treat and prevent gastric ulcers in patients who are continuously taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy after inducing prevention of rebleeding in gastric ulcers or duodenal ulcers. Thus, it is effectively used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases.
