Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once, twice a day. The maximum daily recommended dosage for each component is 25 mg of empagliflozin and 2000 mg of metformin. Precautions

This medication is a diabetes treatment that helps control blood sugar. Note that while taking this medication, there is a risk of a rare but serious adverse effect called lactic acidosis. Lactic acidosis is a condition where lactic acid builds up in the body excessively, which can be life-threatening in severe cases. Additionally, there is a risk of hypoglycemia when taken with other diabetes medications such as insulin or sulfonylureas, so blood sugar levels should be closely monitored. This medication should not be used in patients with impaired kidney function or serious conditions such as acute kidney problems, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction. Before and after tests using radiocontrast agents with iodine, this medication should be temporarily discontinued, and can be resumed only after kidney function has been confirmed as normal. If health conditions change during treatment, such as fluid loss, infections, dehydration, liver dysfunction, or poor nutritional status, consult healthcare providers immediately. This medication may increase the risk of urinary tract infections or genital infections, so prompt treatment is warranted if symptoms of infection appear. There is also a risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, so it is advisable to regularly monitor serum vitamin B12 levels during long-term use. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding women, should not take this medication, and it is not recommended for children as safety has not been established. Elderly patients may experience reduced kidney function, so regular kidney function tests are necessary, and dosage adjustments may be needed. In case of overdose, serious adverse effects such as lactic acidosis may occur, requiring immediate hospital treatment, and blood dialysis may be needed. When storing this medication, keep it out of reach of children and store it in its original container for safety. Finally, it is important to regularly check health status while taking this medication and consult a physician immediately if any abnormal symptoms occur.
