Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to penicillin class drugs. Patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia have a higher risk of rash while taking this medication, so caution is required. Patients who have previously experienced liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this medication or penicillin should also avoid its use. Patients with impaired liver function or moderate to severe renal impairment may have elevated drug concentrations, so careful administration is necessary. Patients with allergic predispositions, the elderly, or those with gastrointestinal disorders may have an increased risk of side effects, so caution is advised. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, and in severe cases, may lead to pseudomembranous colitis; if symptoms are severe, administration should be immediately stopped. Liver dysfunction symptoms may also appear, which occur more frequently in the elderly and males, so regular liver function tests are necessary. Rarely, severe skin rashes or hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis may occur, so medical attention should be sought if any unusual symptoms arise. Blood dyscrasia reactions have been reported, such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, so blood tests may be needed for prolonged use. Central nervous system symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, and seizures may occur, so patients with weak kidney function should be especially cautious. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are taking other medications, make sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should only use this medication when necessary, especially during the first trimester of pregnancy. The safety of this medication in children has not been sufficiently established, so caution is advised in its use. The elderly have a higher risk of side effects due to diminished physiological function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and monitored. This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container as it may be sensitive to air and moisture, and should be kept in a cool, dry place below 25 degrees Celsius to maintain its effectiveness.
