Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients. Additionally, it contains lactose, so it should not be administered to patients with a genetic disorder that prevents normal digestion of lactose. Patients with liver disease or a history of liver disease should be cautious, as the condition may worsen when using this medication. If allergic symptoms such as skin rash, urticaria, swelling of the face or limbs, or itching occur during usage, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. This medication may rarely cause drowsiness, lethargy, headache, dizziness, insomnia, nightmares, numbness, or a feeling of fuzziness. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, heartburn, dry mouth, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and inflammation in the mouth, so patients should report any unusual symptoms. Liver function tests may indicate increased levels, or symptoms of jaundice may appear; therefore, regular check-ups on liver health are necessary, and patients with hepatitis or liver damage may experience worsening conditions. Rarely, renal and urinary system abnormalities such as proteinuria, frequent urination, hematuria, or urinary retention may occur, so symptoms should be monitored. Rare symptoms of rapid heartbeat may occur, and respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath or nasal congestion may also arise. Blood tests may show decreased platelet counts or increased white blood cell counts, so any unusual symptoms should be reported immediately. In females, rare occurrences of breast enlargement, menstrual irregularities, or chest pain may appear. This medication is not a rapid relief medication for asthma attacks, so this point must be adequately explained to asthma patients. Patients on long-term steroid treatment should gradually reduce their steroid dosage under medical supervision when taking this medication. This drug may cause drowsiness, so caution is advised when operating machinery or driving. If there is no effect, long-term use should not be continued. Seasonal allergy patients are advised to start taking the medication before the season when symptoms worsen, and continue until symptoms resolve. There are minimal drug interactions, but caution is required when used with sleep medications or alcohol. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of this medication, and nursing mothers should preferably avoid it or stop breastfeeding. Safety in children, newborns, and low-birth-weight infants has not been established, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients may experience reduced liver and kidney function, requiring careful monitoring of adverse reactions and possible dosage adjustments. In the case of overdose, there is a risk of cardiac arrhythmia; immediate medical attention for electrocardiogram monitoring and treatments such as gastric lavage or induction of urination is necessary. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers, as that may affect the quality. Taking this medication on an empty stomach may increase the blood concentration of the drug; therefore, depending on the disease, it is recommended to take it before sleep or after a meal.
