View approved original text

This medication helps dissolve mucus and facilitates the easy expulsion of phlegm in acute and chronic respiratory diseases. This makes the mucus in the airways less sticky and smoother, allowing for easier breathing. It is particularly effective for alleviating symptoms when there is severe coughing or a lot of phlegm. It helps patients breathe more comfortably. This drug is used for mucolysis and expectoration in respiratory diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. It should not be administered to patients with an allergy to this drug or its components. Patients with liver cirrhosis or certain enzyme deficiencies should avoid this medication as its metabolites may interfere with methionine metabolism in the body. Patients with peptic ulcers should also avoid this medication as it may exacerbate symptoms. Patients with severe renal impairment or severe hepatic impairment should not be given this medication as it may put a burden on the body. There are also patients who require caution when using this medication. Patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment should be careful not to exceed 300 mg per day when taking this medication. This medication contains a pigment called Tartrazine, so patients who have an allergy or hypersensitivity to this component should use it cautiously. In case of overdose, symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, and flushing may occur. Neurological and respiratory symptoms like headache, cold symptoms, and dyspnea have also been reported. Digestive system symptoms may include taste disturbances, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn. Skin reactions such as urticaria, erythema, and eczema may occur, requiring attention. In post-market surveillance in South Korea, various adverse reactions, including fatigue, indigestion, facial swelling, and itching, have been reported, but their association with this drug is not clearly established. When taken with expectorants, this drug may make the expulsion of phlegm from the bronchi more difficult due to cough relief, which may increase the risk of bronchial infections or cause bronchial spasms, so caution is necessary when combined. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid taking this medication as its safety has not been established. No special toxicity was found in animal experiments; however, for safety reasons, women who are likely to become pregnant, pregnant, or nursing should avoid its use. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container may pose a risk of accidents and may not maintain the drug's quality, so it is safe to store it in its original container.
