This medication is used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

Once a week, take 1 tablet of this medication (70 mg/2800 IU or 70 mg/5600 IU) in the morning with a sufficient amount of water at least 30 minutes before consuming any food, drink, or other medications. After taking, do not lie down for at least 30 minutes, or until after the first food intake. This medication should not be taken before bedtime or upon waking. If a dose is missed, take one tablet on the following morning, and resume your regular dosing schedule.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients and adolescents (under 18 years of age) have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can irritate the upper gastrointestinal tract, leading to esophagitis, esophageal ulcers, and esophageal erosion. If such symptoms occur, discontinue the medication and consult a physician. Take this medication with a sufficient amount of water (170-230 mL), and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Additionally, this medication should not be administered to patients with delayed esophageal emptying or hypocalcemia. Caution is advised when using this medication in patients with upper gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, duodenitis, and ulcers. Adverse reactions such as abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea, headache, and musculoskeletal pain may occur during use, particularly if there is worsening bone, muscle, or joint pain, consult a physician. This medication may interact with calcium supplements, antacids, and some other medications, so a dosing interval of at least 30 minutes should be maintained. If pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a physician before use, and it is not recommended for children. It is not recommended for patients with severely impaired renal function. During the use of this medication, it is important to maintain adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D, and to engage in weight-bearing exercise and healthy lifestyle habits. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypocalcemia, esophagitis, and gastritis may occur; in such cases, do not induce vomiting and visit a medical institution immediately. Finally, store this medication out of the reach of children and do not transfer it to another container.

Hives, severe swelling (including angioedema), severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), profuse sweating, pallor, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory issues, esophageal stricture, esophageal perforation, esophageal obstruction, esophageal erosion, esophageal ulcer, severe bleeding, severe rash and blisters accompanied by high fever, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, liver abnormalities (jaundice), bleeding

Mild side effects

Abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, acid reflux, esophageal ulcer, vomiting, dysphagia, abdominal bloating, gastritis, musculoskeletal (bone, muscle, or joint) pain, muscle cramps, headache, dizziness, taste disturbances, esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, oropharyngeal ulcer, itching, hair loss, nasopharyngitis

Storage

This medication is sensitive to air and moisture, so it should be stored in a tightly closed container. Additionally, it is best to avoid direct sunlight and store it at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C.
