This medication is used to improve symptoms when it is difficult to expectorate sputum in respiratory diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute conditions: 200 mg once, 3 times a day Chronic conditions: 200 mg once, 2 times a day

Child dose

Acute conditions: 6 to 14 years 200 mg once, 2 times a day 2 to 5 years 100 mg once, 3 times a day Chronic conditions: 6 to 14 years 100 mg once, 3 times a day Cystic fibrosis: 6 years and above 1

Precautions

This product contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener, which is broken down in the body into phenylalanine. Therefore, patients with phenylketonuria, a hereditary disease that requires limiting phenylalanine intake, should not take this product. The daily allowable amount of aspartame is adjusted not to exceed the recommended amount by WHO of 40mg/kg, therefore, for a 60kg adult, a maximum of 2.4g can be taken per day. Individuals with an allergy to this medication or those with gastric or duodenal ulcers, and infants under 2 years of age should avoid this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication after consulting with a physician, as its safety during pregnancy has not been sufficiently studied. Lactating women should also be cautious as it is unclear whether this medication is secreted in breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, oral inflammation, heartburn, diarrhea, allergy reactions like hives, itching, rashes, headaches, tinnitus, or bronchospasm occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, rare serious reactions such as increased heart rate, hypertension, or anaphylaxis may occur, so caution is needed. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of certain oral antibiotics when taken together, so it is advisable to space out doses by at least 2 hours. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to prevent degradation of the drug quality and misuse.

Drug interactions

This medication should be taken at least 2 hours apart from oral antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefuroxime, doxycycline, erythromycin, thiamphenicol). Additionally, the addition of other medications to this medication's solution should be avoided.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture. It is best to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
