Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis) and eradication of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcer, alleviation of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially for erosive esophagitis and long-term maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence. It also helps alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux without esophagitis. This drug is used in combination with antibiotics for the treatment of duodenal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection and prevention of recurrent peptic ulcers. It is effective for treating and preventing gastric and duodenal ulcers associated with upper gastrointestinal symptoms due to NSAID use. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy for the prevention of rebleeding from gastric and duodenal ulcers. In summary, this medication is widely used for treating gastrointestinal and esophageal-related diseases and for preventing ulcers.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment for erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks; if symptoms persist, take for an additional 4 weeks. - Maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence: 20 mg once daily. - Treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older: 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment for erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks; if symptoms persist, take for an additional 4 weeks. - In cases without esophagitis but with reflux symptoms: 20 mg once daily.
This medication should not be used in patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to certain ingredients. In particular, patients sensitive to benzimidazole derivatives, penicillin antibiotics, or macrolide antibiotics should not receive this medication. Patients taking certain heart-related medications or antivirals, nursing mothers, and patients with a history of myocardial infarction should not use this drug. This medication contains a dye called Yellow No. 5, and patients with a history of allergy to this component should use it with caution. Various side effects may occur when taking this medication, including headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, skin rash, and itching. If these symptoms are severe or persistent, consult healthcare professionals. Although rare, blood abnormalities, severe allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, and severe skin reactions may occur, so if abnormal symptoms arise, immediate medical care should be sought. This drug suppresses gastric acid, which may increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract, so if diarrhea persists for a long time, notify healthcare professionals. Long-term use may increase the risk of fractures; therefore, patients with osteoporosis should have regular bone density tests. Additionally, prolonged use may lower blood magnesium levels, so patients who take it long-term or are at risk for hypomagnesemia should be monitored through blood tests. This medication has a high potential for drug interactions, so patients taking anticoagulants, antiepileptics, certain antibiotics, or antivirals should inform their doctor. During pregnancy, this medication should be used cautiously as its safety for the fetus has not been fully established, and nursing mothers should avoid taking it. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote; therefore, one should go to the hospital immediately for appropriate treatment and keep it out of reach of children to prevent accidents.
Hives, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, shock, angioedema, rash, mucosal skin syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), jaundice, liver failure, encephalopathy, bronchospasm, difficulty breathing, dyspnea, severe allergic reactions, severe skin adverse reactions, severe swelling, or urinary difficulties.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air and moisture from entering, and it is recommended to store it at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it in this manner will help maintain its effectiveness and prevent degradation.
