Treatment of hypertension and hypercholesterolemia and reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medication contains two active ingredients: Telmisartan and Rosuvastatin. Telmisartan is primarily used to treat essential hypertension and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction or stroke in older high-risk patients. Rosuvastatin works by controlling hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, lowering blood cholesterol levels, and delaying the progression of atherosclerosis. Additionally, it contributes to reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and arterial revascularization in patients at high risk for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, this medication is used to improve cardiovascular health in patients with both hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
Telmisartan: A recommended initial dose is 40 mg orally once daily, which may be effective at 20 mg once daily, depending on the patient. If necessary, the dose can be increased up to 80 mg once daily. For reducing cardiovascular disease risk: It is recommended to take 80 mg orally once daily. Patients with liver dysfunction should not exceed 40 mg once daily. Rosuvastatin Calcium: An initial dose of 5 mg once daily, followed by a maintenance dose.
This medication can cause severe harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, so it should be stopped immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Women who are hypersensitive to this medication, pregnant or nursing, and fertile women who are not using appropriate contraception should not take this medication. Patients with severely impaired liver function, those with bile excretion issues, and patients with certain kidney diseases or myopathy should also avoid using this medication. Elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, and patients with mild liver dysfunction should use this medication cautiously, and patients at risk of muscle-related side effects should exercise extra caution. This medication may affect the liver and muscles, so liver function tests and muscle enzyme tests should be performed regularly before and during treatment. If symptoms such as myalgia, weakness, or cramps occur, consult healthcare professionals immediately, and discontinue use if severe. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. Caution is particularly needed when used in conjunction with antihypertensives, diuretics, potassium supplements, certain antibiotics, antifungals, and immunosuppressants. It is advisable to avoid or minimize alcohol consumption during treatment, especially with a history of liver disease. Use caution when driving or operating dangerous machinery due to the potential for dizziness or drowsiness. Keep this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to other containers for safety. In case of overdose, visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment, as symptoms such as hypotension or kidney function abnormalities may occur.
