Precautions

This medication is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat specific infectious diseases. It is important to monitor for serious side effects such as tendonitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system disturbances, and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis when using this medication. If such symptoms occur, usage should be immediately discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. This medication should not be administered to patients with a history of severe myasthenia gravis and should be used only when no other treatment options are available. The intravenous injection must be administered slowly over a minimum of 30 to 60 minutes, and administration should be stopped immediately if there is a sudden drop in blood pressure. Additionally, this medication should be used with caution, especially in elderly patients or those with impaired kidney function or when used in conjunction with corticosteroids due to an increased risk of tendon rupture. If symptoms of tendonitis occur during administration, exercise should be avoided and rest taken; if symptoms are severe, medication should be discontinued. If allergic symptoms such as hypersensitivity, skin rash, or difficulty breathing occur, use should be discontinued immediately, and gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Central nervous system symptoms may include headaches, dizziness, insomnia, and seizures; such symptoms should be reported to medical personnel. Diabetes patients should monitor blood sugar closely, and patients with heart disease should pay attention to cardiac-related symptoms. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as growing children or adolescents, should not use this medication, and those with a history of seizures or on certain medications should use it with caution. In cases of overdose, central nervous system symptoms and cardiac abnormalities may occur, requiring immediate treatment in a hospital, and this medication is not removed by hemodialysis. This medication may be sensitive to light, so exposure to strong sunlight should be avoided, and caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery if dizziness or drowsiness occurs.
