Treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in patients with gout
Chronic hyperuricemia in gout patients plays an important role in lowering serum uric acid levels to prevent gout attacks and alleviate symptoms. This treatment controls uric acid concentration by inhibiting uric acid production or promoting uric acid excretion, thereby reducing joint inflammation and pain. Consistent management helps reduce gout complications and improves the patient's quality of life. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of chronic hyperuricemia associated with gout.
1. Adults Administer 40mg or 80mg of this medicine once daily, with or without food. Because this medicine acts very rapidly, recheck serum uric acid levels after 2 weeks. The treatment goal is to lower and maintain serum uric acid levels below 6 mg/dL(357 μmol/L). 2. Patients with renal impairment No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with mild or moderate renal impairment. The safety and efficacy of this medicine have not been adequately evaluated in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 30mL/min). 3. Patients with hepatic impairment No special dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment. Only limited information is available for patients with moderate hepatic impairment, and the efficacy and safety of this medicine have not been studied in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child Pugh class C).
This medication may increase the risk of cardiovascular mortality in patients with cardiovascular disease, so patients with a history of cardiovascular disease should consult a doctor before use. Patients with allergies to this medication's active ingredient or excipients, those taking certain immunosuppressants (mercaptopurine, azathioprine), and those with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders should not use this medication. Patients with liver disease or a history of liver issues should regularly monitor liver function and use this medication cautiously. Patients with thyroid dysfunction should also receive thyroid function tests while taking this medication, and caution is needed for patients with heart disease or heart failure. When used in combination with theophylline, the elimination of metabolites may be increased, so caution is advised when taking these two medications together. Do not initiate this medication during an acute gout attack; it should be started after the gout attack is resolved, and preventive treatment may be necessary as gout attacks may temporarily worsen at the beginning of treatment. If symptoms of abnormal liver function (fatigue, loss of appetite, upper abdominal pain, jaundice, etc.) occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so caution is necessary when driving or operating dangerous machinery. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication, and it should not be administered to children or adolescents under 18 due to a lack of experience with use in this population. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are currently taking any medications, be sure to inform your healthcare provider. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so treatment will be symptomatic based on the symptoms. Keep out of reach of children, and no special storage conditions are required.
