This medicine is used in cases of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia where diet and exercise alone are not sufficient. It is also used as an adjunct therapy for homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, reducing total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia and delaying the progression of atherosclerosis. It is utilized as an adjunct to dietary therapy in children aged 10 to 17 years with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. In addition, it aids in dietary management for patients with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia. In middle-aged and older adults with high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels, it reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and contributes to lowering the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular interventions. This medication effectively improves cholesterol and cardiovascular disease risks.
