Improves blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication assists patients with type 2 diabetes in improving blood sugar control when used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy. The combination of sitagliptin and metformin effectively manages blood sugar levels and is used to enhance patients' blood sugar management.
This medication is generally taken twice a day with food, and the dosage should be gradually increased to minimize gastrointestinal side effects caused by metformin. 1. For patients currently not treated with metformin: Take this medication 50/500 mg twice a day, one tablet at a time, and it may be increased to 50/1000 mg twice a day, one tablet at a time. 2. For patients undergoing metformin treatment:
This medication can cause severe allergic reactions; therefore, if symptoms such as skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing occur after administration, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. This medication may induce pancreatitis, a severe inflammation of the pancreas, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever appear, inform the medical staff immediately. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, heart failure, or certain acute heart conditions should not use this medication. This medication should be temporarily stopped before examinations using iodine contrast agents, and can be resumed after confirming normal kidney function post-examination. It is recommended that pregnant or potentially pregnant women and nursing mothers do not take this medication. This medication can induce hypoglycemic symptoms; thus, blood sugar levels must be closely monitored, especially when used with other hypoglycemic agents, and immediate action should be taken if hypoglycemic symptoms occur. Patients with liver dysfunction or excessive alcohol intake should exercise caution as this medication may pose a risk of lactic acidosis, a dangerous metabolic disturbance. Elderly patients should be regularly evaluated for kidney function and doses adjusted, as they may have decreased kidney function. Patients undergoing surgery should stop this medication 48 hours prior to the procedure and may resume it once oral intake normalizes and kidney function is confirmed after surgery. During the use of this medication, maintain a regular meal schedule and proper exercise, and regularly check blood sugar and kidney function. This medication may cause vitamin B12 deficiency, so it is advisable to routinely check vitamin B12 levels when taking it for an extended period. If an overdose occurs, immediately visit a medical institution for necessary treatment, as some constituents can be removed by dialysis.
Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis, severe rash accompanied by fever, blistering, severe skin reactions such as desquamation, acute pancreatitis (including hemorrhagic or necrotizing), shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities with cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), liver abnormalities.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air and moisture from entering, and it is best kept at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. This way of storage helps maintain the medication's effectiveness for a longer duration.
