For patients who are not currently treated with metformin: Take this medicine 50/500 mg twice daily, one tablet each time, and may increase to this medicine 50/1000 mg twice daily, one tablet each time. 2. Precautions

This medicine is a combination drug containing sitagliptin and metformin hydrochloride, primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. When taking this medicine, severe hypersensitivity reactions may occur. If there are symptoms such as rash, hives, or difficulty breathing, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. Acute pancreatitis has been rarely reported, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur after taking the medicine, inform a healthcare professional promptly. Metformin hydrochloride contained in this medicine can rarely cause a severe side effect known as lactic acidosis; therefore, patients with impaired kidney function or liver diseases should take special care. Patients with severe renal impairment, acute infection, heart failure, or pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medicine. It should also be temporarily discontinued before and after examinations using radiopaque iodine contrast agents. Patients with irregular eating habits or engaging in vigorous exercise, as well as those taking other medications, should be cautious as there is a risk of hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis. While taking this medicine, it is important to regularly check kidney function, blood tests, and vitamin B12 levels. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so excessive drinking should be avoided during treatment. If surgery is planned, this medicine should be discontinued 48 hours prior to the surgery and resumed only after confirming that kidney function has returned to normal post-operatively. Hypoglycemic symptoms may appear; thus, especially patients taking insulin or other hypoglycemic agents should closely monitor symptoms and consult a doctor if necessary. The safety and efficacy of this medicine in children under 18 years of age have not been established, so it is not recommended for pediatric use. Elderly patients may have decreased kidney function, thus dose adjustments and regular monitoring of kidney function are necessary. In case of overdose, seek medical attention immediately for appropriate treatment, as this medicine can be partially removed by hemodialysis. Possible adverse reactions during the course of treatment include diarrhea, nausea, headache, upper respiratory infection, etc. If severe joint pain or skin rash occurs, promptly inform a physician.
