Precautions

This medication should not be used by certain patients. For example, individuals who are allergic to this medication or its components should avoid taking it. Patients with liver cirrhosis or cystathionine synthase deficiency should not take this medication, as its metabolites may interfere with methionine metabolism. Additionally, patients with peptic ulcers, severely impaired kidney function (creatinine clearance less than 25 mL/min), and those with severely impaired liver function should avoid using this medication. Furthermore, this medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic disorders that prevent lactose breakdown should refrain from taking it. This medication should be used with caution in patients with mild liver impairment, ensuring that the daily dosage does not exceed 300 mg. Patients who are allergic to the yellow dye No. 5 contained in this medication or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions should also use it cautiously. In case of overdose, symptoms such as excessive sweating, dizziness, facial flushing may occur. Neurological and respiratory abnormalities such as headaches, cold symptoms, and breathing difficulties may also arise. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as taste disturbances, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn may occur. Allergic reactions such as hives, rashes, and eczema may manifest on the skin. Various adverse reactions such as fatigue, indigestion, palpitations, and facial swelling have been reported in post-marketing surveys, but their direct association with this medication is not clear. When taken with expectorants, this medication may reduce phlegm expulsion due to cough suppression, potentially increasing the risk of bronchial infections and bronchospasms, so caution is needed. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid this medication as its safety has not been established. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and transferring it to another container may compromise its quality, so caution is advised.
