Precautions

This medication contains Sitagliptin and Metformin, both of which are used for diabetes treatment. When taking this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as rash, hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Severe side effects include acute pancreatitis, which involves inflammation of the pancreas. If abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort occurs, careful observation is necessary and immediate notification to healthcare professionals is required. This medication should not be administered to patients with severely impaired kidney function or those with conditions that may affect kidney function, such as heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or severe infections. It is especially important to temporarily discontinue this medication before and after tests using iodine contrast agents, and to resume it only after kidney function has been confirmed as normal. It is safe to avoid this medication during pregnancy or for women who may become pregnant, as well as for nursing mothers. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, so caution should be exercised, especially when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas. Due to the Metformin component, there is a risk of lactic acidosis, a rare but potentially fatal metabolic complication, so it should be avoided or closely monitored in patients with impaired kidney function, severe dehydration, liver disease, or excessive alcohol intake. It is important to regularly monitor kidney function and blood tests, including vitamin B12 levels, during the use of this medication. In cases of surgery, this medication should be temporarily interrupted 48 hours prior to surgery and resumed only after confirming that kidney function is normal post-surgery. This medication may have a higher risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis in patients with irregular dietary intake, poor nutritional status, or those engaging in vigorous exercise. Gastrointestinal disturbances, diarrhea, nausea, and headache may occur during treatment; if these symptoms are severe, consult a doctor. Consumption of alcohol is discouraged during the use of this medication as it can increase the risk of side effects. In case of an overdose of this medication, inform healthcare professionals immediately, and blood dialysis or other treatments may be required. This medication is not recommended for use in children under the age of 18, as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Elderly patients should regularly check kidney function as it may decline, and dosage adjustments may be necessary.
