Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise in helping patients with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. It is particularly effective for those who have not previously taken diabetes medications or find it difficult to control blood sugar with monotherapy. Additionally, it can be used when adequate blood sugar control is not achieved with monotherapy of Metformin or Sitagliptin, or when it substitutes the combination therapy of the two medications. For patients who are unable to control blood sugar even with the combination therapy of Metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, this drug can be administered, improving blood sugar control. This medication plays a role in helping control blood sugar across various treatment stages, making it useful for the management of type 2 diabetes.
This medication is typically taken twice daily with food, gradually increasing the dosage to minimize gastrointestinal side effects caused by Metformin. 1.
