How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents over 15 years: 1 dose is 20 mL. Take orally 3-4 times a day after meals and before sleep.

Child dose

Pediatric: 1 dose for ages 12 to less than 15 years is 13 mL

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients under 18 years of age who are obese or have obstructive sleep apnea, or severe lung disease due to the increased risk of severe respiratory depression. This medication should not be taken by individuals who have had allergic reactions to this drug or its components, are currently taking or have recently stopped taking MAO inhibitors within the last 2 weeks, are children under 12 years of age, are lactating women, have glaucoma, or have conditions that cause lower urinary obstruction such as benign prostatic hyperplasia. Those with allergic tendencies or previous allergic reactions to drugs, those with impaired liver or kidney function, thyroid disorders, diabetes, frail individuals, individuals with high fever, those with cardiovascular diseases, the elderly, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication with caution. Additionally, patients with elevated intraocular pressure or urinary disorders, those receiving treatment from a physician, individuals with specific cough symptoms (e.g., asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema), and patients with constrictive peptic ulcers or pyloric obstruction and those with epilepsy should be cautious. During the use of this medication, drowsiness may occur, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided, and overdose or prolonged use should be avoided. Do not take in combination with other cough suppressants, cold medications, antihistamines, or sedatives, and concomitant use with alcohol or central nervous system depressants can enhance drowsiness. Women who are pregnant or nursing should use this medication only with caution if necessary, especially it is recommended not to administer during lactation. In children, overdose can lead to hallucinations, excitability, convulsions, and in severe cases, death; therefore, it should never be administered to children under 12 years of age. Elderly patients may have reduced physical function, so careful observation of their condition and cautious administration is required. In cases of overdose, central nervous system abnormalities, convulsions, respiratory distress, cardiovascular problems may occur, and appropriate emergency treatment such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage is necessary. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept in a cool, dry place, and it should not be transferred into other containers to maintain quality.
