This medication is used to alleviate symptoms of cough and phlegm.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and above: One time 20 mL. Administer orally 3 to 4 times daily after meals and at bedtime.

Child dose

Children: One time 13 mL for ages 12 years and above to under 15 years. Administer orally 3 to 4 times daily after meals and at bedtime.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided in patients under 18 years of age who are obese, have obstructive sleep apnea, or severe pulmonary disease, as it may increase the risk of serious respiratory depression. Patients who have had an allergic reaction to this medication or its components, are taking certain antidepressants or MAO inhibitors, have recently discontinued MAO inhibitors within the last 2 weeks, are children under 12 years of age, are breastfeeding women, have glaucoma, or have conditions causing lower urinary tract obstruction such as benign prostatic hyperplasia should not use this medication. Individuals with allergies or previous allergic reactions to medication, those with impaired liver or kidney function, thyroid disorders, diabetes, weakened individuals or those with high fever, cardiovascular disease patients and the elderly, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, individuals with elevated intraocular pressure or urinary difficulties, those with specific coughing symptoms, patients with peptic ulcers, and individuals with epilepsy should use this medication with caution. During use of this medication, drowsiness may occur, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating machinery, and excessive use or prolonged use should be avoided. Do not take this medication in conjunction with other cold medications, cough suppressants, antihistamines, or sedatives, and be cautious as drowsiness may be intensified when combined with alcohol or central nervous system depressants. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication with caution, as its safety has not been established; especially during breastfeeding, it may inhibit milk secretion and transfer to the baby, so it is advisable not to use it. This medication should never be administered to children under 12 years old due to the risk of severe respiratory depression, and extra caution should be exercised due to the risks of hallucinations, seizures, or death with overdose in children. Elderly individuals may have decreased physical functioning, so their condition should be closely monitored during administration. In the event of overdose, central nervous system abnormalities, seizures, respiratory arrest, and cardiovascular problems may occur, and immediate emergency measures such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage should be taken. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept in a cool, dry place; for quality maintenance, it should not be transferred to other containers.
