This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.

How to take

Adult dose

Treatment must be initiated by a physician with experience in diagnosing and treating Alzheimer's dementia, and can only begin if a caregiver can regularly monitor the patient's medication intake. This medication can be taken regardless of food intake. Dose escalation: The maximum daily dose is 20 mg, and to minimize the risk of adverse reactions, the dose should be increased by 5 mg weekly over the first three weeks until the maintenance dose is reached.

Precautions

This drug should not be used by patients who are allergic to any of its components, have very poor liver function, or have severely impaired kidney function. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with genetic disorders related to lactose intolerance. Patients with epilepsy or those who have experienced seizures, or those at high risk of developing epilepsy should use this medication cautiously. It is important not to take this medication with specific drugs such as amantadine, ketamine, and dextromethorphan, as this may increase central nervous system side effects.
