Precautions

This drug acts by binding to specific proteins and disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, killing the bacteria. This drug should never be used in patients who have previously experienced serious allergic reactions or shock related to this medication or cephalosporin class antibiotics. Caution should be exercised when administering this drug to those with a history of allergy to penicillin class antibiotics or who are prone to allergic reactions, such as asthma, rash, or hives. In patients with severely impaired kidney function, the elderly, or those with poor nutritional status, Vitamin K deficiency may manifest, so careful monitoring during administration is necessary. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, particularly those with a history of colitis, should be cautious as gastrointestinal disturbances may occur during the use of this medication. This drug may rarely cause severe allergic reactions, skin diseases, blood abnormalities, liver or kidney dysfunction, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory problems, or central nervous system abnormalities. If any symptoms occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate treatment should be initiated. Use of this medication for extended periods or excessive use may lead to the development of resistant bacteria; therefore, it should only be used for the minimum duration as directed by a physician. Interactions with other medications may occur; especially in cases where other medications that affect the kidneys, anticoagulants, or oral contraceptives are taken concurrently, consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is recommended. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this drug with caution if its administration is necessary, and nursing mothers should also be cautious as small amounts can pass into breast milk. This drug should be avoided in newborns under one month of age as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may experience a higher frequency of side effects due to decreased physiological functions, so dose adjustments and close observation of the patient's condition are advisable. This drug may potentially affect the results of certain clinical tests, so care is needed when interpreting test results.
