This medicine is used for the treatment of essential hypertension. It is administered additionally to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with telmisartan alone, improving blood pressure control. This helps to reduce the risk of complications due to hypertension and maintain health.

How to take

Adult dose

For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with telmisartan alone, take 1 tablet daily with water, regardless of meals. Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg, 80/12.5 mg, 80/25 mg may be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not controlled with telmisartan alone. Patients with mild to moderate renal impairment do not require dosage adjustment, but patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min) should not receive this medication.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medicine have not been established in children under 18 years of age.

Precautions

This medicine can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, and should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients who are allergic to the main ingredients or excipients of this medicine, or who are hypersensitive to sulfonamide-class drugs, should not take it. Patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, those with obstructive biliary disease, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medicine. Elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, mildly impaired liver function, and patients with heart valve diseases should exercise caution when taking this medicine. This medicine may lower blood pressure, which could lead to symptoms such as dizziness and fainting; therefore, caution is advised. The hydrochlorothiazide component can cause electrolyte imbalances, and regular blood tests to check potassium and sodium levels are necessary. During the use of this medicine, care should be taken to avoid excessive sun exposure, and if there are any skin abnormalities, a doctor should be consulted immediately. Drug interactions may occur when taken together with other antihypertensive medications, diuretics, lithium, potassium supplements, etc., so patients must inform healthcare providers about all medications they are taking. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is necessary. In case of overdose, symptoms such as low blood pressure, electrolyte abnormalities, dehydration may appear; therefore, the dosage must be strictly adhered to, and any unusual symptoms must be reported to healthcare providers immediately. This medicine is not recommended for children under 18 years of age, as its safety and efficacy have not been established.
