Precautions

This medication should be avoided in patients under 18 years of age who are obese or have obstructive sleep apnea syndrome or severe pulmonary disease, as it carries a greater risk of serious respiratory depression. Patients with an allergy to this medication or any of its ingredients, those currently taking or have recently stopped monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), children under 12 years of age, nursing mothers, patients with glaucoma, and those with lower urinary tract obstructive conditions such as prostate hypertrophy should not use this medication. Those with a history of allergies, liver or kidney issues, thyroid disease, diabetes, weakened conditions, high fever, cardiovascular disease, the elderly, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, individuals with elevated intraocular pressure or urinary difficulties, and those with specific cough symptoms should use this medication with caution. This medication may rarely cause severe shock, skin rash, itching, indigestion, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, urinary difficulties, hypotension, respiratory issues, and other various side effects; therefore, if any abnormal symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is required. Since drowsiness may occur during use, it is safer to avoid driving vehicles or operating machinery. Additionally, care should be taken to avoid overdose or prolonged use. Taking this medication along with other cough suppressants, cold medicines, antihistamines, or sedatives can lead to increased side effects, and combining it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may worsen drowsiness; it is advisable not to take them together. The safety of this medication has not been established for pregnant or nursing women, especially nursing mothers where the drug may pass into breast milk and affect the baby, therefore use is preferably avoided. Particular caution is warranted for children, and it should never be used in children under 12 years of age due to the increased risk of respiratory depression. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so their condition should be carefully monitored during administration. In the case of an overdose, severe central nervous system disturbances, seizures, apnea, cardiovascular issues, etc., may occur, requiring immediate emergency measures, and treatment such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary. Store this medication out of reach of children, avoiding direct sunlight and keeping it in a cool, dry place; it is important not to transfer it to other containers in order to maintain product quality.
