This medicine is used as an adjunctive therapy for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia who are not adequately controlled by diet and exercise. It is also used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia as an adjunct to other treatments like dietary therapy or LDL apheresis. This medicine helps reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia, slowing the progression of atherosclerosis. It may also be used as an adjunct to dietary therapy in pediatric patients aged 10 to 17 years who meet certain criteria for heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It acts as an adjunctive therapy for patients with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia, especially in middle-aged patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease, helping to reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and revascularization. This medicine effectively improves the risks of hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular disease.
