This medication is primarily used for the treatment of recurrent or persistent acute otitis media and acute sinusitis in pediatric patients. It is effective against various bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. However, this treatment applies to children under 2 years old who have received antibiotic treatment for the related disease within the last 3 months or to children attending daycare. It helps reduce infections and improve symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

There is no experience of use of this medication in adults. This medication is administered at the beginning of meals to minimize the possibility of gastrointestinal disturbances. Administering this medication at the beginning of meals increases the absorption of clavulanate potassium.

Child dose

Children aged over 3 months: Based on the amoxicillin content (600 mg/5 mL), the dosage is 90mg/kg/day divided into intervals of 12 hours. For acute otitis media, take for 10 days; for acute sinusitis, take for 7 days.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and should not be used by patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria. Additionally, it should not be given to patients who have had hypersensitivity to the components of this medication or to beta-lactam antibiotics, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, and those with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice caused by this medication or penicillin. Patients with impaired liver function or moderate to severe renal impairment should use this medication with caution, and those with a tendency for allergic reactions should use it carefully.
