This medication helps alleviate symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis and is useful in treating chronic idiopathic urticaria. Additionally, it improves symptoms when used with hydrocortisone topical formulations for dermatitis and eczema accompanied by itching. It effectively relieves various allergy and skin-related symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 6 years: Take 1 tablet (5 mg of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride) orally once daily, regardless of meals. The dosage may be adjusted appropriately based on age and symptoms. In patients with renal impairment, the dosage should be adjusted according to kidney function (glomerular filtration rate, eGFR). - Normal kidney function (≥ 90): 1 tablet once daily - Mild renal impairment (60 -< 90): 1 tablet once daily - Moderate

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to certain components or have a history of hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. It is safe not to administer this drug to patients with severely impaired kidney function or those on hemodialysis. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women, as well as nursing mothers, are advised not to take this medication. It should not be used in infants under 1 year of age, and for children under 6 years old, it is recommended to use in liquid form rather than tablets. Patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic lactose-related conditions should avoid lactose-containing formulations of this medication. Caution should be exercised in patients with impaired kidney or liver function and in the elderly, as blood concentration of this medication may increase. Taking this medication may cause central nervous system side effects such as drowsiness, headache, or dizziness, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Using it with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants may exacerbate drowsiness or decreased concentration, so co-administration is not recommended. Patients with urinary retention issues or risk factors such as benign prostatic hyperplasia should use this medication with caution. This medication may affect allergy tests, so it is advisable to discontinue use prior to allergy skin reaction tests. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness or agitation may occur, and there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic treatment should be administered. This drug is not effectively removed by hemodialysis, so hemodialysis may not be effective in cases of overdose.
