Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients with urinary retention symptoms, severe gastrointestinal issues, myasthenia gravis, or narrow-angle glaucoma. Additionally, it should not be administered to those who are allergic to this drug or its components, undergoing hemodialysis, or have severe liver or kidney dysfunction. Patients at risk of urinary retention, those with obstructive gastrointestinal diseases, or those with significantly decreased kidney or liver function should use this medication with caution. Common side effects include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary retention, and dry eyes. In particular, dry mouth and constipation may occur more frequently at higher doses. Severe side effects such as intestinal obstruction or fecal impaction have been reported, so if symptoms worsen, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary. This drug requires caution when driving or operating machinery due to drowsiness, fatigue, or blurred vision. Severe allergic reactions such as angioedema or anaphylaxis may occur, and if such symptoms arise, the use of the drug must be stopped immediately, and treatment should be sought. Since this drug is metabolized in the liver and kidneys, dose adjustments are necessary for patients with poor liver or kidney function, and dosage restrictions are needed when used with certain antifungal agents. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a physician before using this drug. Safety in pediatric patients has not been established, and it is not to be administered to children. In cases of overdose, inducing vomiting should be avoided, and appropriate treatment such as administering activated charcoal is necessary. Professional treatment is required if severe central nervous system symptoms or heart problems arise. When used with other anticholinergic medications, effects may increase or side effects may worsen, requiring caution during co-administration. The effects of this drug typically appear after about 4 weeks, so consistent intake is important.
