Precautions

This medication is used for treating erectile dysfunction, and it is essential to identify the underlying causes through a medical history and physical examination prior to use. Sexual activity may place stress on the heart, hence patients with cardiovascular diseases should consult a doctor prior to using this medication. If an erection lasts for more than 4 hours after taking the medication, seek medical attention immediately, as untreated cases may lead to penile tissue damage and loss of erectile function. This medication should not be taken with nitrates as it may dangerously lower blood pressure, so patients taking nitrate medications should not use it. It is not recommended for patients with serious cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, unstable angina, or stroke. This medication may affect sperm count and concentration in men, but significant changes in sperm motility or morphology have not been reported. Patients with certain heart conditions may also be sensitive to this medication, so caution is required. This medication is contraindicated for patients regularly taking organic nitrates and should not be used in cases where sexual activity is not recommended due to cardiovascular diseases. It is not recommended for patients with genetic retinal diseases such as pigmentary retinopathy. Patients hypersensitive to this medication or its components should not use it, and combining it with other erectile dysfunction treatments has not been proven safe. It should not be administered to patients who are lactose intolerant. It is advisable not to use this medication in patients with a history of vision loss due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. Patients with penile deformities or certain blood disorders should use this with caution and it is not recommended for those with severe kidney or liver impairment. Caution is necessary as co-administration with alpha-blockers may cause hypotension. This medication may have side effects such as headache, dyspepsia, back pain, muscle pain, flushing, and limb pain, most of which are mild to moderate. Rarely, severe cardiovascular adverse reactions and vision or hearing loss have been reported; hence if any unusual symptoms occur, consult healthcare professionals immediately. Alcohol consumption with this medication may increase the risk of low blood pressure or dizziness, so caution is advised. It is not for use in pregnant women, nursing mothers, or children; although there is generally no significant impact on driving or machinery operation, individuals may experience dizziness, so caution is required. In case of overdose, standard treatment should be administered; blood dialysis is not effective in removing the drug. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original packaging to maintain integrity.
