How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily, with asthmatic patients taking it in the evening. For allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time is determined based on the patient's condition. For patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis, it is taken once daily, one tablet in the evening. Adults and adolescents over 15 years with asthma or allergic rhinitis should take 10 mg of montelukast orally once daily.

Precautions

This medication is used in the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, so patients with phenylketonuria, a specific genetic disease, should not take it. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so patients with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. During treatment, symptoms such as fatigue, headache, dyspepsia, cough, and rash may occur, and rarely, serious allergic reactions or psychiatric symptoms have been reported. This medication is not an emergency treatment for acute asthma attacks; therefore, separate emergency medications should be used for acute symptoms. Inhaled corticosteroids should not be suddenly stopped or replaced with this medication; they should be gradually adjusted under a doctor's guidance. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid using those medications while taking this drug. Rare side effects such as eosinophilia or vasculitis may occur during treatment; therefore, a doctor's consultation is necessary if symptoms arise. No specific interactions have been reported when taken with other medications, but caution is required when combined with specific liver metabolism inducers. Use during pregnancy should be limited to cases where it's necessary, and caution is advised in breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy in children under 6 months have not been established, so it is recommended to avoid use in this age group. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote available, so general symptomatic treatment and clinical monitoring are necessary. This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be opened just before use and taken immediately after opening. Store in a place out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container. This medication should be taken consistently even in the absence of symptoms, and if symptoms worsen or unusual symptoms appear, consult a doctor immediately.
