This medication is used to relieve cough and phlegm.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents 15 years and older: 1 dose is 20 mL. Take the following dosage orally 3 to 4 times daily after meals and before sleep.

Child dose

Pediatric: 1 dose for children aged 12 years and above to under 15 years is 13 mL. Take the following dosage orally 3 to 4 times daily after meals and before sleep.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided in patients under 18 years of age who are obese, patients with obstructive sleep apnea, and those with severe pulmonary diseases due to the risk of severe respiratory depression. This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergic reactions to this drug or its components, patients currently taking MAO inhibitors or who have stopped taking them within the past two weeks, children under 12 years of age, breastfeeding women, patients with glaucoma, and those with obstructive uropathy, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia. It should be administered with caution in individuals with a history of allergic reactions, liver or kidney disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, those who are frail, febrile patients, patients with cardiovascular diseases, elderly individuals, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, patients with increased intraocular pressure or urinary disorders, individuals with certain types of cough, those with stenotic peptic ulcers or pyloric duodenal obstruction, and patients with epilepsy. Drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided. Overdosage or prolonged use can be dangerous. It should not be taken with other cough suppressants, cold medications, antihistamines, or sedatives, and concurrent use with alcohol or central nervous system depressants can increase drowsiness. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication with caution after consulting a physician, and it is advisable for breastfeeding mothers not to take this medication. Especially in children, overdose can lead to hallucinations, agitation, seizures, and in severe cases, death, so it is safest not to use it in children under 12 years of age. Elderly patients should be monitored closely due to possible reduced physical function. In case of overdose, rapid emergency treatment such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage is needed, and it should be kept out of reach of children and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Additionally, for quality assurance, it is important not to transfer it to other containers.
