Treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
This medication is used in the treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). ADHD is characterized primarily by difficulties in attention and hyperactivity, affecting mainly children, adolescents, and adults. Diagnosis should be made carefully based on a comprehensive medical, psychological, educational, and social assessment, following DSM-IV criteria or ICD guidelines, and should not rely solely on the number of symptoms. This medication is used as part of a total treatment program that may include psychosocial therapy and educational support. Not all patients require medication; prescriptions are made at the discretion of a specialist based on the severity and chronicity of the symptoms. It helps to effectively improve ADHD symptoms.
