Treatment of erectile dysfunction
Tadalafil tablets are used to treat erectile dysfunction, specifically male sexual dysfunction. This medication is effective only when there is sexual stimulation, helping to achieve a natural erection. However, it is not recommended for use in females. For men suffering from erectile dysfunction, tadalafil tablets offer a safe and effective treatment option.
For oral administration. Use in adult men The recommended dose of this medicine is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. For patients in whom tadalafil 10mg does not provide sufficient effect, 20 mg may be tried. This medicine may be taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The maximum recommended frequency of administration is once daily. Long-term safety after extended daily dosing has not been established, and because the effect of this medicine usually lasts more than one day, continuous daily administration is strongly discouraged. [See section 1. Warnings and section 11.1) Pharmacodynamic properties] Use in elderly men No dosage adjustments are required in elderly patients. Use in men with renal impairment No dose adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. The maximum recommended dose in patients with severe renal impairment is 10mg. [See section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties]. Use in men with hepatic impairment The recommended dose of tadalafil is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. Since clinical data on the safety of tadalafil in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C) are limited, the physician should carefully assess the individual benefit/risk when prescribing it. There are no data on administration of doses higher than 10mg to patients with hepatic impairment. [See section 3. Patients Requiring Caution and section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties]. Use in men with diabetes No dose adjustment is required in patients with diabetes.
Do not use in persons under 18 years of age.
This medication is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and should be prescribed after evaluation of the patient's overall health condition by a physician, especially concerning cardiovascular health. Patients with heart disease should exercise particular caution as sexual activity may place stress on the heart, and any chest pain or heart-related symptoms during or after sexual activity must lead to immediate cessation and consultation with a physician. Although prolonged erections lasting more than 4 hours are rare, they can be a severe side effect, and medical attention should be sought immediately in such cases. Caution is advised as concurrent use with nitrates or specific antihypertensives can lead to dangerously low blood pressure; thus, it is essential to inform the physician of any medications currently being taken before taking this drug. Recently, patients who have had significant cardiovascular conditions such as myocardial infarction, stroke, or unstable angina are not recommended to use this medication. Patients with hereditary retinal diseases or specific vascular disorders should also avoid using this medication. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, making it unsuitable for patients who are lactose intolerant. Combining other erectile dysfunction treatments has not been proven safe and is not recommended. Patients with severely impaired kidney or liver function may require dosage adjustments, and caution is warranted when taken with alpha-blockers or potent CYP3A4 inhibitors. This medication is part of a process to accurately diagnose the cause of erectile dysfunction and find appropriate treatment methods, being effective only when there is sexual stimulation. Side effects such as headache, dyspepsia, back pain, muscle pain, flushing, limb pain, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, cough, diarrhea, gastroesophageal reflux disease, abdominal pain, dizziness, fatigue, itching, facial swelling, paresthesia, drowsiness, lightheadedness, kidney impairment, shortness of breath, epistaxis, pharyngitis, blurred vision, color vision alterations, conjunctivitis, eye pain, increased tear production, eyelid swelling, sudden hearing loss or decrease, tinnitus, and rash may occur, most of which are mild or temporary. Serious side effects such as hives, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, pallor, severe rash accompanied by high fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in oral/eye mucosa, wheezing or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, cough with fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, vision disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output, and systemic symptoms have been reported, necessitating immediate consultation with a physician upon onset of abnormal symptoms. If sudden vision loss or hearing decrease occurs while taking this medication, it must be discontinued immediately and professional treatment sought. When taken with alcohol, there may be an increase in blood pressure reduction or dizziness, so caution is advised. Use is prohibited in pregnant women and children; while special effects on driving or operating machinery are not expected, individual differences may require caution. In cases of overdose, standard emergency measures should be employed, and blood dialysis is not significantly effective in the removal of the drug.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
