This medication is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, as well as upper gastrointestinal bleeding caused by peptic ulcers or acute stress ulcers, and hemorrhagic gastritis. It is also effective for gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and improves gastric mucosal lesions such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling that occur during acute exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis. It is also used in injection form for treating upper gastrointestinal bleeding and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and is applicable for pre-anesthetic medication. This medication aids in treating various diseases of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract and improves symptoms.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Oral administration: 1. For gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: take 20 mg per dose, twice daily (after breakfast, after dinner, or at bedtime) or 40 mg per dose, once daily (at bedtime). 2. Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to specific ingredients or have hypersensitivity to H2 receptor antagonists. Additionally, it contains lactose, so individuals with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take it. Common side effects may include skin rash, dyspepsia, blood pressure changes, respiratory issues, and neurological symptoms. During treatment, closely observe any changes in symptoms, use the minimum effective dose, and switch to other treatments if there is no efficacy. This medication dissolves in the mouth but is not absorbed through the oral mucosa; therefore, it must be swallowed with water or saliva. Patients undergoing dialysis should be cautious as the effectiveness of this medication may decrease when used with phosphate binders. Taking this medication with certain antifungals or some anticancer drugs may reduce the efficacy, so patients should inform healthcare professionals about any medications they are currently taking. Elderly individuals may have reduced kidney function, which may require dose adjustment or interval modification. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding as the drug may be transmitted through breast milk. Shock, hypersensitivity (anaphylaxis, respiratory distress, systemic flushing, angioedema including facial swelling and pharyngeal swelling, urticaria), pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia (general fatigue, weakness, subcutaneous or mucosal bleeding, fever, etc.), Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell's syndrome, liver dysfunction, jaundice, rhabdomyolysis (hyperkalemia, myoglobinuria, elevated serum muscle enzymes, myalgia), QT prolongation.
