This drug is used to treat recurrent or persistent acute otitis media and recurrent acute sinusitis in pediatric patients. It is particularly effective in children under 2 years of age who have received antibiotic treatment for acute otitis media or acute sinusitis within the last 3 months and in children who attend daycare. It acts on several harmful bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis, inhibiting infections. These properties help improve ear and sinus infections in children.

How to take

Child dose

For pediatric patients over 3 months: take 90 mg/kg/day based on the amoxicillin content (600 mg/5 mL) divided into two doses every 12 hours. For acute otitis media, take for 10 days, and for acute sinusitis, take for 7 days.

It should also not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to the ingredients in this drug or beta-lactam antibiotics, patients with viral diseases such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this drug or penicillin, and patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic digestive disorders. Patients with impaired liver function, significant renal impairment, those with allergic tendencies, patients who have difficulty taking oral medications or elderly patients, and those with gastrointestinal diseases manifesting as vomiting or diarrhea should use this drug cautiously. Various side effects, such as diarrhea, vomiting, skin rash, abnormal liver function, blood abnormalities, kidney abnormalities, and central nervous system abnormalities, may occur while taking this medication, so consult a physician immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. As a penicillin class antibiotic, this drug may rarely cause serious allergic reactions, such as hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored after administration. If diarrhea occurs during antibiotic use, it may indicate a serious condition such as pseudomembranous colitis, so it is essential to stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical attention. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, it is important to take this drug only for the prescribed duration after confirming the sensitivity of the bacteria causing the infection. Pregnant women in the early stages or during pregnancy should use this drug with caution, and breastfeeding women should discontinue use if any side effects occur in the infant. The safety and efficacy of this drug have not been established in infants under 3 months of age, so it should not be used in this population. This drug may interact with other medications, so if you are taking any other medications, make sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. In case of overdose, symptoms may include gastrointestinal symptoms, renal abnormalities, and seizures; seek medical attention immediately for appropriate treatment. Shake well before use, store in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture, and it is recommended to take it all within 7 days after preparation. Store in a place out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and keep it in a dry place at temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius. This drug is not effective against viral infections and should only be used for treating bacterial infections. Even if symptoms improve, continue taking for the prescribed duration.
