Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions. Patients with gout or hyperuricemia, or a history of such conditions, should use this medication with caution as it may elevate blood uric acid levels and worsen symptoms. Patients with urinary or renal stones should also use this medication carefully, as it may increase uric acid levels and exacerbate stone symptoms. Patients with impaired kidney function should use this medication cautiously, as kidney weakness can delay uric acid excretion from the body. Patients taking cardiac medications like digitalis should use this medication carefully, as it may have a slight effect on the heart. Additionally, this medication contains caramel, so caution is needed for individuals allergic to caramel. Taking this medication may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhea, constipation, and occasionally symptoms like gastrointestinal bleeding, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. It may also affect the blood, leading to an increase in red blood cell count, a decrease in white blood cell count, and an increase in platelet count. Liver function test levels may rise, and sometimes liver enzyme levels may increase as well. Hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes may occur. This medication may elevate blood uric acid levels, potentially causing hyperuricemia. It can also affect the kidneys and urinary tract, leading to increased blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels, renal stones, urinary stones, and polyuria. Neurological symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue, lethargy, nervousness, drowsiness, and insomnia may occur. Joint pain may develop, and rarely, interstitial pneumonia due to lung inflammation may occur. Since this medication has the potential to raise uric acid levels in blood and urine, it is advisable to regularly monitor uric acid levels and kidney function during treatment. This medication does not have especially serious drug interactions, but it is advisable to avoid using it with cortisone, globulin, immunosuppressants, and anti-lymphocyte globulin. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been fully established, so it is particularly advisable to avoid use in the first three months of pregnancy, and it should only be used during pregnancy when the benefits outweigh the risks. This medication may be passed into breast milk, so it is preferable to discontinue breastfeeding during treatment. In case of overdose, symptoms such as vomiting, headaches, abdominal discomfort, dizziness, and rapid heartbeat may appear, but symptoms will disappear if the dose is reduced or the medication is discontinued. If overdose is suspected, treatment to alleviate symptoms may be necessary.
