Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with urinary retention or severe gastrointestinal issues such as toxic megacolon. Individuals with myasthenia gravis or narrow-angle glaucoma should also avoid this medication. Those with allergies to this drug or its components, patients undergoing dialysis, and individuals with severe liver or kidney dysfunction should also refrain from taking it. Special caution is advised for patients with moderate to severe liver or kidney function impairment who are taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. Additionally, patients with genetic issues that prevent them from digesting galactose or lactose should not take this medication. Patients at risk of urinary retention or with gastrointestinal obstructive diseases or reduced gastrointestinal motility should use this drug carefully. In cases of severe kidney or liver dysfunction, the maximum daily dose should not be exceeded, and dosage adjustments may be necessary when used in combination with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. Patients taking medications that may cause or worsen heat-related illnesses, gastroesophageal reflux disease, or esophagitis should exercise caution while using this drug. Common side effects include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary retention, dry eyes, nausea, indigestion, upper abdominal pain, vomiting, urinary tract infection, influenza, pharyngitis, dizziness, depression, leg swelling, fatigue, cough, hypertension, difficulty urinating, decreased urinary flow, bladder fullness, cystitis, post-nasal drip, vomiting, gastroesophageal reflux disease, headache, hallucinations, drowsiness, delirium, kidney impairment, itching, rash, erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, atrial fibrillation, palpitations, tachycardia, and cardiac arrhythmias. Serious gastrointestinal side effects may occur with high doses, making dosage adjustment crucial. In the event of allergic reactions such as angioedema or anaphylaxis, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and medical attention should be sought. This medication may cause drowsiness or blurred vision, making it potentially hazardous during driving or machine operation. When taken with anticholinergic drugs, effects may be enhanced, or side effects may worsen, thus consultation with a healthcare professional is advised. This medication is metabolized by the CYP3A4 enzyme, and co-administration with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole can lead to increased blood concentration of this medication, necessitating dose adjustments. Its safety has not been established in pregnant women, and it should be used with caution, while nursing mothers are advised to avoid this medication altogether. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established, and it should not be administered to children. In cases of overdose, visit a hospital immediately for appropriate treatment, which may require specialized care depending on symptoms. Special caution is advised for patients with heart diseases or those at risk for QT prolongation.
