Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so individuals with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Caution should be taken when used by children with nutritional deficiencies or those exhibiting phlegm-heat symptoms. Caution is needed as the glycyrrhizin component in this medication can cause side effects such as hypokalemia, increased blood pressure, fluid retention, edema, and weight gain when taken long-term at doses exceeding 40 mg per day. If symptoms such as reduced urine output, facial or extremity swelling, heavy eyelids, hand stiffness, increased blood pressure, or headaches occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, prolonged use may lead to a condition called hyperaldosteronism, so potassium levels in the blood should be regularly checked, and if abnormalities are found, the medication should be discontinued. Symptoms such as muscle weakness, limb cramps, or paralysis may occur due to hypokalemia; therefore, if such symptoms arise, discontinue use. The risk of side effects increases when taken with potassium-containing preparations, licorice-containing preparations, or certain diuretics, so caution is required when taken together.
