This medication is used to relieve symptoms of difficulty in expectoration in diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For acute diseases, adults should take 200 mg once, three times a day with a small amount of water before meals. For chronic diseases, adults should take 200 mg once, twice a day with a small amount of water before meals.

Children's dosage

For acute diseases, children aged 6 to 14 years should take 200 mg once, twice a day with a small amount of water before meals. For chronic diseases, children aged 6 to 14 years should take 100 mg once, three times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by anyone with an allergic reaction to this drug or its ingredients. Additionally, patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should not use this medication. Children under the age of 2 should not take this drug. This medication contains lactose and should not be administered to patients with a genetic disorder that prevents the digestion of lactose. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must consult a doctor before taking this medication. Breastfeeding women should also consult an expert before using this drug, as it is uncertain whether this drug passes into breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, oral inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur while taking this drug, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Moreover, if allergic reactions such as hives, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, or bronchospasm appear in asthma patients, stop taking the medication immediately and inform a healthcare professional. Rarely, symptoms such as rapid heartbeat or high blood pressure may occur, so caution is advised. Serious side effects like difficulty breathing have been reported with this medication, so if any unusual symptoms appear, consult a healthcare provider immediately. When taken with oral antibiotics, the effect of the antibiotics may be reduced, so they should be taken at least 2 hours apart. Also, do not mix other medications in the solution of this drug. It should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children and kept in its original container to prevent incorrect use or deterioration of quality.
