Amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil is medication used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy in patients with essential hypertension. These medications help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications. They are used to effectively manage blood pressure and improve health through consistent use.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily, with or without meals, along with water. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning). The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is inadequately controlled with olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg or amlodipine 5 mg monotherapy. - 10/20 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is inadequately controlled with olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg monotherapy.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn when taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients with allergies to its components, severe liver impairment, severe aortic stenosis, biliary obstruction, patients undergoing renal dialysis, those in a state of shock, and certain diabetes patients. Hypotension may occur in patients with fluid or electrolyte depletion, so monitoring should be done closely upon initial administration. Rapid vascular dilation may lead to hypotension; hence, caution should be taken in patients especially with heart valve diseases. Careful use is required in patients with heart failure as well as in patients with renal impairment. For patients with impaired liver function, the metabolism of this drug may be slowed down, requiring careful administration. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, hypotension, cough, digestive disorders, and skin rash may occur during treatment; if unusual symptoms arise, please consult a physician. This medication may pose risks to the fetus during pregnancy; therefore, those planning a pregnancy or currently pregnant must consult a physician. During breastfeeding, this medication may be transmitted through breast milk and affect the baby, so it is advised to discontinue breastfeeding or stop taking the medication. Safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 18 years of age and is not recommended. Elderly patients may have reduced liver and renal function, so it is advised to start at a lower dose and closely monitor their condition. Overdose may result in hypotension and arrhythmias, so immediate medical attention should be sought if symptoms appear. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, it is essential to inform your physician or pharmacist of any other medications being taken.
