Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients with allergies to penicillin drugs. Particularly, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at higher risk of rash and require caution. Patients with liver dysfunction or a history of hepatitis should also be cautious when using this medication, as there is a possibility of exacerbating liver function. Patients with moderate to severe impaired kidney function may have prolonged drug retention in the body, requiring adjustments in dosing intervals. Patients with an allergic constitution or bronchial asthma, older adults, and those in poor general condition should be cautious as they may be at risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting; if severe diarrhea or abdominal pain occurs, treatment should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. Liver dysfunction may occur, necessitating liver function tests in the case of prolonged use, especially as it may occur more frequently in men over 60. Serious skin reactions such as skin rashes, urticaria, and in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur; discontinue use immediately if symptoms arise. Blood tests occasionally report abnormalities such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, thus regular blood testing is recommended. Central nervous system symptoms may rarely include headache, dizziness, and seizures; caution is advised in patients with poor kidney function due to increased seizure risk. This medication can interact with other drugs, especially anticoagulants, allopurinol, and disulfiram, thus caution is necessary when taken together. Pregnancy should be avoided in the first three months, and pregnant or nursing women should use it cautiously after consulting a doctor. Use in children under 12 years or below 40 kg of weight is not recommended due to limited experience. Older adults may experience adverse reactions more easily due to decreased kidney and liver function, and monitoring of dosages and intervals should be performed accordingly. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, rashes, and seizures may occur; treatment should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate care should be received. Storage should be in a sealed container to prevent moisture, and it is important to maintain a cool temperature between 1 and 25 degrees Celsius during storage. This will help safely maintain the medication’s efficacy over time.
